Who has a hair transplant? Who is an ideal candidate?

It is interesting that the success of a hair transplant can be affected by some of the personal factors of the candidate. A healthy, relatively stress-free person who exercises regularly is more likely to benefit from a transplant, as would a person who has a more established hair loss pattern. This is because a patient who is in the early stages of hair loss may require further hair transplants later on in life as the natural hair continues to come away, we recommend that patients should ideally be over the age of 30 in order to see the best results. What is male pattern baldness and how can a hair transplant be the solution?

Up to 70% of men are said to experience male pattern baldness in their lifetime. Typically, the hair loss occurs at the temples and at the crown of the head, and is very often genetic which means the man can do very little to prevent the hair loss. However, once the hair loss has been established, there is a solution, and hair transplants for male pattern baldness are becoming increasingly popular. Treatment methods – Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Dr Diaz is able to utilise a technique known as PRP, which uses the patient’s own blood to promote hair growth. Platelet rich plasma is collected from the patient’s blood before being injected into the scalp in order to stimulate hair growth, this is particularly useful following hair restoration surgery. To find out more about how the PRP process works, take a look at our detailed blog post.
